Martel #3 Medium Handle
The Martel #3 Medium Handle (Note: Handle only. other pieces are sold separately.) is one of 4 handle sizes from Martel designed for use with the Martel Hook Tool. This handle is slightly longer than the Martel #2 Medium Handle. These handles are a little different than most other turning tool handles in their relative length and shape, as they are designed for turning hollows in end grain.
Being significantly longer than other handles allows for easy and smooth control of your cutting tool. This also offers a much deeper reach when turning hollows on deep vases and other end grain applications, where the size of your project is not as limited as it would be in traditional cross grain bowl turning.
This handle is meant to be paired with Martel’s medium hook tool which is designed to be pulled through the cut instead of pushed. The unique tapered grips on the handle allow for a very firm grasp on your tool while pulling through the cut.
This handle is 26″ long, 2″ diameter, and fits a 3/4″ shank. We suggest pairing it with the Martel #3 Shank and Medium Martel Hook Tool.
